Whilst we haven’t been involved in the day to day running of the works on site, we have assisted with key decisions throughout the build and we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the scheme take shape. With the exterior envelope complete, works are now focusing on the interior finishes and external landscaping. The kitchen is being installed and the floor in the hallway is going down with great care. The cinema room is transformed with a striking colour and bathroom fittings have been carefully selected to ensure a traditional style with a modern-day finish. Within a few weeks, we should have a completely restored home, ready for the family to enjoy!

On a prominent road in the area, our striking design will be a significant change to the existing house, bringing it in line with many homes in the surrounding area. We are really excited to get underway with the detailed design and look forward to starting on site in 2022.

We are also reconfiguring the existing property, which overall will provide an open-plan kitchen, family room, separate snug, a utility/boot room with WC and en-suite to the master bedroom.

Working with a Local Heritage Consultant and the Local Planning Authority, planning permission and listed building consent was granted to restore the structural integrity of the roof and to bring the building fabric up to modern day standards.

Other works included repositioning of the entrance piers, replacement of the site entrance gates, refurbishment of the garage and to make good the low-level boundary wall.

Re-locating to the area, our clients approached us to help them turn their new home, which had a dated layout and a lack of natural light, into a modern and bright place to live. We have re-designed the internal layout of the house, to provide a modern and comfortable kitchen, dining and living space on the ground floor, alongside a separate lounge and large utility room. On the first floor, there is now an impressive master suite, complete with a free-standing, roll-top bath, and a dressing room. Off the landing are a further 3 bedrooms and a family shower room.

- [Bramble Cottage](https://inkspacearchitects.co.uk/projects-in-progress/bramble-cottage/): We have recently had the pleasure of handing over this gorgeous cottage in Sway, in theNew Forest National Park, back to our clients. We first began working on the project, when we were approached by our clients, who wanted to renovate and extend their beautiful, traditional, forest cottage. The design needed to provide them with modern living, by way of an open-plan kitchen and living space on the ground floor and that had a seamless connection to the garden but that didn’t sit out of place alongside the existing building. Alongside the large kitchen, dining, living space, the ground floor accommodation was also to include a large utility/bootroom, a separate lounge and a designated study. The first floor layout now gives our clients, a master suite, with the bedroom orientated specifically to make the most of the view of the garden, alongside two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. At first floor, we have lowered the window cills on the rear elevation, so that you can sit in bed and look out across the green roof to the garden beyond. The external appearance of the extension is modern but relates to the existing forest cottage and the use of natural materials, such as timber and stone, have been influenced by its rural, New Forest setting.

- [Brockenhurst House](https://inkspacearchitects.co.uk/projects-in-progress/brockenhurst-house/): INKSPACE was appointed in Autumn 2021, to reimagine Brockenhurst House, a cherished family home set within mature, tree-lined surroundings. The brief focused on enhancing space, natural light and connectivity, both within the home and between the architecture and its surrounding landscape. Planning approval was successfully achieved in Autumn 2022, with construction commencing in Spring 2025 and completion anticipated for Spring 2026.

The brief was to convert a former cowshed, into a beautiful bespoke artist studio. This unique, Grade II Listed building requires careful restoration and INKSPACE have worked closely with the Local Planning Authority, Dorset Council, to achieve Listed Building Consent and Householder Planning Permission for this characterful single storey building to be carefully and sympathetically restored. The building which is located on the edge of a field and backs onto the garden wall, which forms the rear wall of the barn, will provide a creative workspace for the family and will include an exposed vaulted timber ceiling, log burning stove and storage facilities.
