Branksome Dene

in Dorset

INKSPACE have been appointed to provide a full architectural service, to completely remodel this property, located a stone’s throw away from the beach. The existing dwelling has a typical late 1960’s appearance, with predominantly rendered external walls and accented areas of Purbeck rubble stone. Approximately two thirds of the building footprint is single storey, with the remaining third providing accommodation at first floor level.

The proposed remodelling and extension to the property are designed to provide much needed additional accommodation, creating a more efficient and contemporary family home, that is lit with plenty of natural daylight. The external form and mass have been carefully considered to reduce the overall impact of the first-floor extension. The combination of stepped roofs and lower eaves help to reduce the mass and keep the overall form to a domestic scale, in keeping with the neighbouring properties.

The introduction of the striking zinc cladding highlights certain architectural elements of the design. The use of slate on the roof helps create a slender elegant profile running around the eaves.

This project is currently in for full planning approval and we look forward seeing it come to life in the coming months.
