Hinton
in the New Forest
This existing three-bedroom house is full of character; however, it required some internal refurbishment to meet the needs of a modern family.
Our brief was to design a very contemporary extension that steps away from the ‘norm’ and adds a really special and unique addition to this 1930’s detached property. The form of the extension provides beautiful vaulted spaces internally, whilst allowing as much natural light as possible to filter through the kitchen and living areas. The careful consideration of the plan allows the internal layout to be open, whilst also clearly defining the kitchen, dining and living space within. The sliding wall between the sitting room and study provides a beautiful feature within the room, whilst allowing the space to be divided and provide an additional bedroom if needed.
The finer details have been considered, with a particular emphasis on in-side/outside living. Large panels of glazing have been introduced to connect the rooms to the external landscape and a log burning stove has been carefully positioned to be enjoyed from all areas.
