Bramble Cottage
in the New Forest
We have recently had the pleasure of handing over this gorgeous cottage in Sway, in the
New Forest National Park, back to our clients. We first began working on the project, when we were approached by our clients, who wanted to renovate and extend their beautiful, traditional, forest cottage. The design needed to provide them with modern living, by way of an open-plan kitchen and living space on the ground floor and that had a seamless connection to the garden but that didn’t sit out of place alongside the existing building. Alongside the large kitchen, dining, living space, the ground floor accommodation was also to include a large utility/bootroom, a separate lounge and a designated study. The first floor layout now gives our clients, a master suite, with the bedroom orientated specifically to make the most of the view of the garden, alongside two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. At first floor, we have lowered the window cills on the rear elevation, so that you can sit in bed and look out across the green roof to the garden beyond. The external appearance of the extension is modern but relates to the existing forest cottage and the use of natural materials, such as timber and stone, have been influenced by its rural, New Forest setting.
Within the New Forest National Park there are certain restrictions with planning and the extension of existing properties. As Architects, we have many years of experience working within these parameters and have been delighted to guide our clients through the planning process and on to realising their dream home. More finished images will follow soon!
