The Cowshed

in Gussage All Saints, Wimborne

Over the last six months INKSPACE have been working on a unique property in the grounds of a Farmhouse in Gussage All Saints, located in Dorset. The brief was to convert a former cowshed, into a beautiful bespoke artist studio.  This unique, Grade II Listed building requires careful restoration and INKSPACE have worked closely with the Local Planning Authority, Dorset Council, to achieve Listed Building Consent and Householder Planning Permission for this characterful single storey building to be carefully and sympathetically restored. The building which is located on the edge of a field and backs onto the garden wall, which forms the rear wall of the barn, will provide a creative workspace for the family and will include an exposed vaulted timber ceiling, log burning stove and storage facilities.

The existing barn is a mix of rendered cobb construction, built off a brickwall at low level. The remaining walls are a later addition, built from shuttered concrete, whilst the roof is pitched and hipped on all four sides, covered in pegged clay tiles, supported on cut rafters, purlins and two large timber trusses.  The existing fabric of this beautiful little building will be lovingly retained and restored to create an interior which introduces new contemporary elements, whilst celebrating and enhancing the old.

INKSPACE are currently completing the detail design stage and construction package of information  and we very much look forward to works commence on site over the next few months.

If you have a project in mind we’d be very happy to help you bring it to life
